Don’t limit your mobility – Use a Wheelchair and be Mobile Again!

Easy movement for the disabled, is that your main concern? Are you or your loved one affected by a disorder that hampers mobility? There are a number of mobility aids that can provide you with much greater independence.  If you have decided to purchase a wheelchair, you can consider the choices you have.  Based on your needs you can choose between power and manual wheelchairs.

The standard manual wheelchair is a familiar sight, which has been used in some form for hundreds of years.  In fact, the earliest record of the use of the wheelchair in England dates back to 1670.  With a seat, backrest, footrest, two smaller front wheels and two larger rear wheels, these standard wheelchairs require the person to manually move the wheelchair forward. You can opt for either the self-propelled wheelchair or an attendant-propelled wheelchair.

What could be better than offering mobility for the disabled without any strain of pushing the wheelchair themselves? Electric wheelchairs offer this convenience and now you can even choose lightweight models if you’re a frequent traveler.

While buying a wheelchair you should check if it meets your height and weight requirements.   Also consider where the wheelchair will be used.  Do you need a chair that will function well both inside and out?  If you’re opting for an electric wheelchair be sure to check the reliability of the power source, power consumption and warranty. You are bound to find one that suits your budget and needs perfectly.
